9 Lives Cat Rescue of Oxford MS in OXFORD, MS

The 9 Lives Cat Rescue is a dedicated organization focused on the welfare of cats and their human companions. Established in 2006, the group has been providing care and support to stray and surrendered cats in Oxford and Lafayette County, Mississippi. As a volunteer-driven 501(C)3 non-profit organization, the 9 Lives Cat Rescue can accommodate a limited number of animals of all ages, depending on the availability of foster homes. The organization offers low-cost and free spay/neuter surgeries for cats, and occasionally for dogs. Additionally, it assists in transporting animals to and from veterinary appointments on surgery days for pet owners who may be unable to do so due to lack of transportation, financial constraints, or work commitments. The 9 Lives Cat Rescue also provides guidance to pet owners to help them retain their animals, aiming to prevent surrenders to the rescue or to high-kill shelters. Since its inception, the organization has practiced Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to manage cat populations in various locations throughout the community. While feral cats are not routinely tested for FeLV/FIV, testing is conducted if a veterinarian suspects illness. The rescue also focuses on aiding injured feral cats by providing trapping services and necessary medical care. The 9 Lives Cat Rescue has experience in bottle-feeding orphaned kittens and caring for sick and injured cats. The organization strives to minimize euthanasia, considering it only upon a veterinarian's recommendation when there are no realistic options for recovery.
