Adoption Process

Cats are promoted on Facebook and displayed at Petsmart 2148 in Oxford, MS. Interested applicants must complete a two-page adoption application. We will contact the landlord for approval, check veterinary references, and conduct an interview with the applicant. The adoption fee ranges from $25 to $100, and a carrier is required for transporting the animal. Animals may be returned to us at any time, with no time limit, even after several years. We will follow up with a phone call, text message, or email. There is a 24-hour waiting period for approval to prevent impulsive decisions.

The 9 Lives Cat Rescue is a dedicated organization focused on the welfare of cats and their human companions. Established in 2006, the group has been providing care and support to stray and surrendered cats in Oxford and Lafayette County, Mississippi. As a volunteer-driven 501(C)3 non-profit organization, the 9 Lives Cat Rescue can accommodate a limited number of animals of all ages, depending on the availability of foster homes. The organization offers low-cost and free spay/neuter surgeries for cats, and occasionally for dogs. The organization strives to minimize euthanasia, considering it only upon a veterinarian's recommendation when there are no realistic options for recovery.
