The Humane Society of St. Joseph County, Indiana, was established in 1886 and is one of the oldest service organizations in the state. It remains the largest animal care facility in the area, serving the greater St. Joseph County region and numerous municipalities. The Humane Society operates the Department of Animal Welfare, where its Humane Officers respond to more than 14,000 reports of cruelty, neglect, and abuse each year. Interested individuals must complete an application, which takes approximately 48 hours to process.
