The Humane Society of St. Joseph County, located in Mishawaka, Indiana, is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and sits about 3 miles west of South Bend, IN. Incorporated in 1896, it is one of Indiana's oldest service organizations and the area's largest animal care facility, with over 2,700 animals passing through its doors every year. Its mission is to instill reverence for all life and enhance the human/animal bond through compassionate care of animals and community education, offering adoption programs for dogs, cats, and pocket pets as well as a barn cat program, animal welfare and animal control services, and community education initiatives.
