White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue is an equine rescue located in Burkeville, Virginia, in Nottoway County, about 50 miles northeast of Richmond. Established in 2003, its mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and at-risk horses, providing shelter, medical care and rehabilitation services to horses in need. Whenever possible, horses are placed in loving and permanent homes; those that cannot or should not be adopted are given permanent sanctuary so they may live out their lives in safety and dignity.
