Animal Shelters in Burkeville, VA

Burkeville has two listed animal shelters and rescue organizations, in Nottoway County. The mix is fairly even between rescue organizations and animal shelters. Jetersville and Meherrin, both within about 10 miles, have listings of their own. Opening hours are listed for many of them. A handful of places, and behind each of them a dog or cat hoping this is the week.

Burkeville has two listed at the moment, and they are shown above with the ones that have photos first. Open any of them for the full address, contact details and opening hours.

A mix of both, and the difference is worth knowing before you set out. A rescue usually places animals from a network of foster homes rather than from premises you can walk into, so you generally arrange a meeting first. A shelter or humane society more often has a facility you can visit during opening hours.

The Burkeville listings all fall in Nottoway County, which is worth knowing if you are checking whether a shelter takes animals from your area.

If nothing here suits, Jetersville, Meherrin and Blackstone all have listings within about 16 miles. Each one links through from the sidebar.

Every listing here carries a phone number, and most link to the organization's own website. Calling ahead is worth it — opening hours change, and rescues often work by appointment rather than keeping a building open.
