About this shelter

Nottoway County Virginia Animal Shelter in Burkeville, VA

Nottoway County Virginia Animal Shelter is located in Burkeville, Virginia, about 50 miles northeast of Richmond, and is open Monday through Thursday from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. The shelter cares for dogs and cats awaiting adoption and works with the Adopt Don't Shop Club of Virginia, established in 2023 to help its animals find homes by offering a free website where interested adopters can learn about available pets and apply online. Adopters and those needing to surrender an animal can call the shelter directly at 434-292-1099. The shelter promotes adoption over buying from breeders or pet stores, emphasizing the second chance and lifelong companionship a rescued dog or cat can offer.
