The Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary is a cat rescue based in Newtown, Connecticut, roughly 15 miles northeast of Waterbury. The sanctuary honors the memory of six-year-old Catherine Violet Hubbard, a kind and compassionate animal lover who lost her life at Sandy Hook Elementary on December 14, 2012, and is guided by her love for all living things. It is committed to protecting animals, educating people, and nurturing the environment, celebrating the connection between animals, humans, and nature so that all creatures can live safely, whether in loving homes or their native habitats. Its programs focus on the care of animals, education, and the environment, though the sanctuary is not currently able to accept animals on-site.
