Adoption process

All potential adopters must complete an application process that includes submitting a written or digital application, providing three personal references, obtaining a veterinary reference, and participating in a home visit. After adoption, we conduct follow-up checks at one week to ensure a suitable match between the dog and family, again at one month to share a "happy tail," and then annually thereafter. The adoption fees are as follows: For Dachshunds: - Under 1 year: $325 - Ages 1 to 5 years: $275 - Ages 6 to 9 years: $250 - Ages 10 years and older: $150 - Senior Long On Love Program: $75 for seniors (60 years and older) adopting dogs aged 10 years and older. For Dachshund Mixes: - Under 1 year: $250 - Ages 1 to 5 years: $200 - Ages 5 to 9 years: $150 - Ages 10 years and older: $100 or a reduced fee determined on a case-by-case basis. - Senior Long On Love Program: $75 for seniors (60 years and older) adopting dogs aged 10 years and older. For Special Needs Dachshunds or Mixes, a fee of $150 or a reduced fee may be determined on a case-by-case basis.
