Whiskers Pet Rescue in Southbury, CT
Whiskers Pet Rescue is a rescue organization located in Southbury, Connecticut, about 10 miles northeast of Waterbury. It is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to rescuing cats and kittens who have been abandoned, injured, abused, or neglected, and placing them into loving, permanent homes. Operating without government funding, Whiskers relies entirely on donations, fundraisers, adoption fees, and occasional small grants, with a team of volunteers and staff working to care for hundreds of cats and kittens each year. The shelter is open to the public Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, and is closed Mondays, Tuesdays, and major holidays.

Apply online first, then the shelter will contact your vet reference or conduct a Zoom interview if you have no vet; approved applicants are contacted by email to schedule an appointment to meet available cats, and only approved adopters can hold, handle, or adopt a cat.
