Bitter Root Humane Association, located at 262 Fairgrounds Road in Hamilton, Montana, is the only animal shelter serving the Bitterroot Valley since 1972, situated roughly 45 miles north of Missoula, MT. As a humane society, it offers shelter and care for homeless pets, pet adoptions, lost-and-found reunification services, a community pet food pantry, microchipping and ID tags, and emergency support for displaced residents and their animals during fires and other natural disasters. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 1:00–6:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00–6:00 PM, and it operates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit supported by donations. BRHA recently moved into a new facility, and pet surrenders are accepted by appointment for a small fee that helps fund its ongoing animal care programs.
