Adoption Process
Our adoption process begins with the submission of an application that must be completed and approved prior to scheduling an appointment to meet the animals. This application includes a veterinary reference check, a personal reference check, and verification that the animal can reside in the applicant's home, which may involve confirming home ownership or obtaining landlord approval. In some cases, we may require a home visit to ensure that the animal and the potential adopter are a suitable match. Once the application is approved, a contract must be signed before the animals are released to their new homes. The adoption fee for dogs is $250, while fees for reptiles and other animals are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Good Karma Rescue Inc. in Middlesex, VT
Good Karma Rescue Inc. is a private charitable non-profit organization recognized under section 501(c)(3). We are a dedicated group of volunteers who are passionate about animal welfare. Our mission is to rescue, shelter, and ultimately find permanent, loving homes for abandoned, stray, and neglected animals. We ensure that these animals receive a lifetime of caring support, which includes appropriate training, exercise, and regular veterinary care. Whenever possible, we also assist dogs that, due to specific circumstances, can no longer stay with their guardians. Based in Central Vermont, we collaborate with local and national organizations to prevent unnecessary euthanasia and address companion animal overpopulation. Good Karma Rescue advocates for early spaying and neutering as the most effective and humane strategy to combat companion animal overpopulation and prevent needless euthanasia. All dogs and puppies adopted from our organization are spayed or neutered prior to their placement in forever homes. We recognize the significant issue of animal overpopulation in the country and actively work to prevent unwanted litters. All animals at Good Karma are cared for in foster homes where they receive individual attention. Each animal is examined by a veterinarian to ensure they are in good health before adoption. All companion animals are spayed or neutered, brought up to date on vaccinations, and screened for parasites before they are placed in new homes. When time allows, we also focus on house training and teaching basic obedience. We evaluate all Good Karma animals for temperament and personality to ensure they are placed in homes that meet their needs as well as those of their future guardians. If you are seeking a specific type of dog and do not find it on our website, please contact us. We work closely with other rescue organizations and animal shelters and may be able to help you find your next furry companion.
