Adoption Process

We often receive notifications from South Dakota shelters regarding dachshunds that are struggling with behavioral issues, such as nipping, and are at risk of being euthanized. In these cases, we step in to rescue the dogs, provide necessary veterinary care, and assess their behavior before placing them up for adoption. Additionally, we respond to inquiries from individuals who have contacted their local shelters about their dachshunds exhibiting nipping behavior towards small children, and are informed that the dogs may be put down. We also collaborate with other rescue organizations regarding dogs from breeders.

Service Areas

We serve Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. Our organization has acquired breeder dogs from Missouri, Kansas, and Wisconsin, and we have successfully placed dogs for adoption as far away as Chicago.

Diane began her journey in fostering at the Sioux Falls Humane Society and later at Pet Pals for Life, where she developed a passion for dachshunds. Recognizing a significant need for a dachshund rescue in the Sioux Falls area, Diane and I, Doug, decided to establish DDR. The response and demand for our services exceeded our expectations.
