Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with an interview of potential adopters conducted by trained adoption counselors using a standard application. This process aligns with our established policies. It is essential that adopters demonstrate the ability to provide adequate housing, food, water, and medical care for the animal. Additionally, the home environment must be suitable for both the family and the animal being adopted. Counselors are trained to assess housing compatibility based on the individual personality of the animal to enhance the likelihood of a successful adoption. If the adopters appear to be a suitable match and can meet the animal's needs, they are required to sign our standard contract. This contract outlines the adopters' responsibilities to care for the animal in accordance with Illinois law. Should the adopters be unable to keep the animal for any reason, they must contact us to arrange for the return of the animal. The contract also specifies that the animal must be kept indoors, among other important points. Adopters are responsible for paying an adoption fee of $100, which applies to all cats, including kittens, unless a special situation arises that allows the adoption counselor to adjust the fee. In most cases, adoptions are completed on the same day, allowing adopters to take their new family member home immediately.

4 Paw Luv Rescue NFP in Millbrook, IL

Our organization operates entirely with the support of volunteers, from the President to those who clean the animal enclosures. We focus on two primary areas. First, we aim to help adoptable homeless animals find their forever homes. Due to the limited capacity of government-run shelters, which often resort to euthanasia to make room for incoming animals, there is a significant number of stray cats in our area. As a no-kill organization with restricted space, we strive to take in highly adoptable animals that might otherwise face euthanasia and help them find loving homes. Our volunteers take great joy in caring for these animals, often forming deep connections with each one. Our second focus is addressing the issue of cat overpopulation in Chicago and its suburbs. We provide low-cost spay and neuter services to low-income individuals and rescues, as well as trap/neuter/return services for feral cats. Many rural farmers and residents in surrounding counties lack the financial means to neuter the cats on their farms, leading to rapid population growth. We have successfully assisted numerous farms in managing and even halting the increase of cats, and some of these animals have found wonderful homes through our efforts. Overall, we are passionate about our work, which involves supporting both people and animals in our community.
