Recycling Animals In Need (R.A.I.N.) is an animal shelter located in Hinckley, Illinois, in DeKalb County, about 15 miles east of Aurora, IL, and one of five such shelters and rescues serving the county. Founded in 2000, R.A.I.N. is a state-licensed, not-for-profit 501(c)3 humane organization run entirely by volunteers, dedicated to finding new homes for unwanted and homeless dogs and cats. Animals come primarily from area shelters and are placed in foster care, where they receive medical care such as spay/neuter, disease testing, and vaccinations, and are evaluated to find the best possible match for a home rather than simply the most placements. The group also hosts adoption events on select Saturdays at PetsMart in Geneva and promotes responsible pet ownership through education and behavioral support.
