Adoption fees for each animal are specified and may vary. An application that includes a veterinary reference is required. Additional requirements may be necessary depending on the specific needs of each animal.

We serve Raleigh and the surrounding areas. We are also open to adopting to individuals outside of this region, provided that you are willing to travel to our location.

STAAR is a small, all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing animals from high-kill rural shelters and finding them permanent homes. We particularly focus on pregnant or nursing mothers, as many of these animals do not have the opportunity to leave the shelter.
