S.A.F.E. Haven for Cats is Raleigh's no-kill shelter and low-cost spay/neuter clinic, located in Wake County, North Carolina, roughly 9 miles southwest of Raleigh, and one of 18 other animal shelters and rescues also based in the county. Since opening, the organization has orchestrated more than 15,000 cat adoptions and its SAFE Care Spay/Neuter Clinic, which opened in 2001, has performed over 60,000 sterilizations to help address pet overpopulation across the ten counties of the Triangle. As a cat-focused rescue, S.A.F.E. Haven works through trained adoption counselors to match cats with adopters, while also running programs for stray and feral cats, a pet food pantry, and volunteer and foster opportunities. The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
