C & W Rustic Hollow Shelter is an animal shelter located in Nashua, Iowa, in Chickasaw County, about 35 miles south of Waterloo. It operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit, cage-free, life-care sanctuary dedicated to special-needs felines with chronic medical, physical, neurological, or behavioral issues, including cats with Feline Leukemia, FIV, senior cats, and cats displaced after the death of their guardian. Its mission is to give "adoption-challenged" cats a "chance at a lifetime," and it is one of only a few sanctuaries in the United States dedicated to this purpose. The shelter's team of animal care specialists, volunteers, and medical personnel cares for up to 200 cats at a time, with a usual resident population of 130-134, taken in from rescue organizations across Iowa and the rest of the U.S.
