The Connecticut Humane Society is a humane society located in Waterford, Connecticut, roughly 35 miles northwest of Hartford, and is open daily from 12:00 to 4:30 PM. It is the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state, helping thousands of pets every year. The organization envisions a Connecticut where every companion animal finds a permanent, compassionate home, communities are enriched by the bond between people and animals, and animal cruelty no longer exists. Beyond adoptions, CHS operates veterinary clinics, a pet food pantry, pet rehoming services, and education and outreach programs, with additional locations in Newington and Wilton.

Adopters must be 18+, visit a CHS location in person (Newington, Waterford, or Wilton) to complete an adoption questionnaire and speak with a counselor, provide valid photo ID and possibly landlord approval, meet the pet and any resident household members/dogs, and then sign an adoption agreement to complete the adoption.
