About this shelter
Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve NJ in Montague, NJ
Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve NJ is a farm animal sanctuary located in Montague, New Jersey, roughly 40 miles southeast of Paterson. Founded in 2014, it was created to give neglected and abused farmed animals a permanent, loving home rather than a temporary shelter stay, and it now cares for over 250 rescued animals across 336 acres of meadows, paddocks, and barns. Its mission is to rescue and rehabilitate farmed animals while educating the public about the impact of animal agriculture on animals, human health, and the planet, and it is the first and only farm animal sanctuary in New Jersey accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. Visitors can meet the animals during public tours, which run every weekend at noon, with the sanctuary itself open Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 to 1:30 PM.
