Cat's Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in Colfax, CA

Cat's Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a cat rescue based in Colfax, California, roughly 50 miles southwest of Sacramento. Founded and run by Catherine "Cat" Cortez in the Sierra Nevada mountains, it is a non-profit organization that takes in abandoned, neglected, and abused animals, providing a safe and loving environment for cats alongside alpacas, goats, mini horses, dogs, and ducks. The sanctuary offers private tours by appointment, free speaking engagements, and virtual adoptions and meet-and-greets, including with its mini-horse ambassador Ice Cream Unicorn, who sends uplifting cards and trinkets to children facing life challenges. The organization relies on donations of money, feed, and volunteer time, and offers animal sponsorships to support its ongoing care.
