Adoption Process
We are dedicated to maintaining an open adoption process. While there may be an adoption fee, typically around $50, we also offer fee-waived adoption events. Each adopter will be required to sign a brief adoption contract. Best Friends is committed to the lifelong care of the pets we adopt out; therefore, we ensure that our organization’s contact information is included on the microchip, along with the adopter's information. We will always accept a pet back into our care if necessary. To qualify for adoption, individuals must be at least 18 years old.

Best Friends in Houston collaborates with city shelters, local animal welfare organizations, and dedicated individuals to rescue pets from shelters in Houston and the surrounding areas. In April 2018, Best Friends initiated the Coalition to Save Houston's Pets to support this mission and work towards making Houston a no-kill city for cats and dogs.
