Adoption Process

To apply for adoption, you must be at least 21 years old. Additionally, any children in your home should be at least 6 years old, and you must reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The individual applying for adoption must be the person who will take ownership and responsibility for the dog. Applications cannot be submitted on behalf of someone else or for the purpose of gifting a dog. Our adoption fees vary between $150 and $350. After you submit your application for the dog you wish to adopt, please attend one of our "Tzu Reviews" held at designated PetSmart locations or other specified venues. You can find the schedule and locations on our website. Following our meeting, we will review your application and any veterinary records for previous dogs. We will assist you in selecting the dog that is best suited for your family. After this, we will arrange for one of our volunteers to conduct a home visit. During this visit, the volunteer will inspect your home and yard for any potential hazards, such as toxic houseplants or gaps in fences, that may need to be addressed before you bring your new family member home.

DFW Tzus and More Rescue in Euless, TX

DFW Tzus & More Rescue is a charitable, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Our primary mission is to connect homeless Shih Tzus, Lhasa Apsos, and other small animals with loving, permanent homes, giving these pets the second chance they deserve for a fulfilling life. We work closely with local animal shelters to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of stray or abandoned animals that find themselves in shelters through no fault of their own. Upon arrival, each dog receives immediate medical attention, including vaccinations, heartworm testing, and spaying or neutering. They are then placed in temporary foster homes where they are cared for like beloved family pets. Through temperament assessments and behavioral modifications as necessary, we strive to ensure that every rescued dog finds a nurturing family and remains with them permanently. We also focus on educating the public and potential adopters about essential topics such as spaying and neutering, vaccinations, heartworm prevention, routine veterinary care, proper nutrition, grooming, microchipping, and the importance of adopting rather than purchasing from breeders. By continuing our educational efforts and seeking compassionate foster homes, the volunteers at DFW Tzus & More Rescue aspire to achieve a future where we can rescue and rehome every Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso, and other small furry friends in DFW Metroplex shelters.
