Adoption Process

Crops and Flops Rescue, Inc. is dedicated to ensuring that our dogs and their future families have the best chance for a happy life together. As a foster-home based rescue, we have a deep understanding of our dogs' personalities in a home environment, allowing us to identify the ideal settings that will help them thrive. Our comprehensive adoption process is designed to understand the unique dynamics of each adopter's household, facilitating perfect matches between dogs and families. While physical appearance may be a consideration, our primary focus is on aligning the dog's temperament and the adopter's lifestyle for optimal compatibility. Our dog adoption specialists are committed volunteers who are passionate about helping create lasting bonds. The adoption process includes the following steps: - Application Completion: Interested adopters must fill out an application. - Reference Checks: Both veterinary and personal references are required to ensure a suitable match. - Phone Interview: A knowledgeable adoption specialist will conduct a 20 to 30-minute phone interview to gain insight into the adopter's household. - Home Visit: Home checks, conducted either virtually or in person, involve verifying home ownership and typically take about 30 minutes. - Dog Meet: Adopters will meet a dog that matches their household needs, and all resident family members must be present during this meeting. - Next Steps: Follow-up actions will be determined during the initial dog meeting, especially if there is a resident dog. - Adoption: We request that adopters wait 24 hours after the initial meeting before scheduling the adoption, allowing all family members to fully commit. If everyone agrees, we will arrange the adoption as soon as possible based on volunteer availability. Adoption donations cover the costs associated with preparing our dogs for their new homes. All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccinations, on monthly preventatives, have undergone fecal testing, and have received 4DX testing for tick-borne illnesses. Each dog also comes with an additional two-month supply of heartworm preventatives. The adoption donations are as follows: - Whippersnapper Puppies (up to 11 months): $500 - Adult House Hippos (1 to 7 years): $400 - Senior Pitizens (8 years and older): $300
