Adoption Process
The adoption process begins with contacting us to inquire about the dog, allowing us to learn more about you as well. Next, you will need to complete an adoption application, which we will review. After that, you will have the opportunity to meet the dog, and we will also meet you. Following this, we will conduct a home check to ensure a suitable environment for the dog. Once everything is in order, you will pay the adoption fee, and we will provide you with the necessary records and guidance for the adoption. Finally, you will officially adopt the dog.

The organization serves the greater San Francisco Bay Area, which includes the area codes 415, 510, 707, 408, 925, and 650.
Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Rescue in San Francisco, CA
GGLRR is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization run entirely by volunteers, located in the greater San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. Since 1986, we have dedicated ourselves to finding loving homes for unwanted Labrador Retrievers and Lab mixes. Our Lab Rescue team rescues these dogs from shelters and assists individuals looking to place their pets for adoption. We offer foster homes, veterinary care, and rehabilitation as needed, ensuring that every dog is placed with a caring family. GGLRR aims to achieve the following objectives: - Encourage responsible dog ownership and reduce the abuse and neglect of unwanted Labrador Retrievers through rehabilitation and adoption. - Promote humane treatment of Labrador Retrievers by accepting unwanted dogs, providing medical care, spaying/neutering, and finding them loving homes. - Offer educational resources to the public on responsible breeding and guardianship of Labrador Retrievers. - Educate dog owners on training, spaying/neutering, humane care, and promote responsible canine citizenship. In essence, GGLRR focuses on placing unwanted Labrador Retrievers into nurturing new homes. We require all dogs adopted through our organization to be spayed or neutered. If a dog has suffered abuse or requires medical care, we provide the necessary emotional and medical rehabilitation. Interested individuals must first reach out to one of our rescue representatives for an adoption screening before meeting any of our dogs. Our primary goal is to secure good homes for Labrador Retrievers at risk of abandonment or euthanasia, while also working to reduce the number of unwanted dogs and promote responsible pet ownership through education.
