Adoption Process

The adoption process involves submitting an online application, participating in a phone screening, undergoing a home visit, signing an adoption contract, and paying a $10 adoption fee per bird. MickaCoo has specific expectations for adopters of doves and pigeons, which include: - Providing an appropriately sized, safe, and uncrowded cage or aviary that has been approved by MickaCoo. - Ensuring daily supervised and safe out-of-cage time, unless the birds are living in an aviary. - Prohibiting free flight or uncaged outdoor time. - Protecting the birds from hazards such as escape, pets, predators, fumes, and toxins. - Offering companionship, either by spending ample time with the bird or by having another bird as a companion, to prevent isolation. - Ensuring access to avian veterinary care if the bird becomes sick or injured. - Providing compassionate and healthy care that meets the bird's nutritional, physical, and emotional needs, including proper lighting. - Avoiding breeding and implementing birth control measures if the bird has a mate, such as replacing real eggs with fake ones. - Committing to a permanent home for the bird, regardless of circumstances, and having a pet care plan in place in case of unforeseen events. - Refraining from selling, using the bird for sporting purposes, or engaging in business activities involving MickaCoo birds. - Returning the bird to MickaCoo if circumstances prevent continued care, although this is not the desired outcome as we expect adopters to provide a lifelong home.
