Adoption Process

Potential adopters are encouraged to visit the animals and complete our pre-adoption information sheet. If you find a pet that you would like to welcome into your family, we recommend taking 48 hours to allow us to review your information. This process ensures that your selected pet is a suitable match for you and gives you time to thoughtfully consider the adoption. We emphasize that adoptions should be permanent, which often entails a commitment of 12 to 14 years for the care and affection of your new pet.

The Frontier Animal Society is a volunteer organization that has been serving the community since 1993. Originally operating solely through foster homes, we now have a dedicated shelter located in Northern Vermont. Our main objectives are to find loving, permanent homes for pets and to address pet overpopulation by ensuring that all animals we adopt out are spayed or neutered. Additionally, we conduct a monthly spay/neuter clinic for cats, during which we have successfully spayed or neutered thousands of cats and kittens.
