Humane Society of Elkhart County in Bristol, IN
Established in 1939, our organization was created to care for stray dogs in the community. Over the years, we have evolved into a Humane Society that also manages animal control services. We provide a range of programs including pet adoptions, public education, pet food assistance, and vaccination and microchip clinics.

Adoption process
The adoption process includes submitting an application and undergoing a basic background check for abuse. There are adoption fees of $80 for cats and $170 for dogs. A contract must be signed at the time of adoption, which stipulates that the animal must be returned to us if it cannot be kept, rather than being rehomed.

- The service area includes all of Elkhart County, excluding the city limits of Nappanee. It also covers the cities of Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury, and Dunlap.
