Adoption Process
Before adoption, all of our dogs undergo testing for heartworm, receive current vaccinations, are microchipped, and are spayed or neutered if they are of appropriate age. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a veterinary check, and a home visit. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies. Before adoption, all of our cats are tested for feline leukemia, receive current vaccinations, are microchipped, and are spayed or neutered if they are of appropriate age. If a kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, a timeline will be established for when this procedure will be completed. Spaying or neutering is mandatory for all animals we rescue. The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.

Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in March 2004. We operate as an all-volunteer animal rescue group, with foster homes located throughout the greater Cedar Rapids area. Many of our animals are rescued from local kill shelters, where they face euthanasia due to various circumstances, including lack of space, being deemed unadoptable, or having special needs. Our mission is to rescue as many homeless, abused, abandoned, and neglected animals as possible and to find them loving, permanent homes where they will be valued and cared for.
