Adoption Process

The adoption process includes the completion of an adoption agreement and payment of an adoption fee, which varies based on the dog's age. All of our dogs are placed in foster homes by volunteers, as we do not operate a shelter or a single location. The address provided in this process is that of Mandy, our Director.

Service Areas

We serve the entire State of Iowa and occasionally receive requests to take in dogs from outside the state. Our adopters come from all across Iowa as well as several other states.

Iowa Weimaraner Rescue in Decorah, IA

Our volunteers have collaborated for several years, initially as part of a multi-state Weimaraner rescue organization, Heartland Weim Rescue. We later established Iowa Weimaraner Rescue to focus our efforts more effectively on the needs within Iowa. We have formed a board of directors and appointed several coordinators to support our mission. We have applied for 501(c)(3) status, which is currently in process, and we anticipate receiving confirmation soon, although it is not yet finalized. At this stage, we are applying to access the Pet Portal and are considering additional services that may benefit us. Personally, I work in IT and volunteer with the organization to assist with coordinating our technology efforts. I have been involved for a couple of years, helping at events and transporting dogs to rescue, although we do not facilitate transport to permanent homes. I am eager to explore the Pet Portal and assess how it might assist us, and I have some questions regarding your data management capabilities that we can discuss in the future.
