About this shelter
Payton's Promise Sanctuary in Marathon, FL
Karen has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, which has shaped her current path. Her journey began in eastern Pennsylvania, where she volunteered at animal shelters as a young girl. This early connection to animals and her natural healing instincts led her to pursue a medical career, culminating in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from West Chester University. For more than 25 years, Karen worked full-time as a Registered Nurse while also expanding her education in holistic medicine over the past 20 years. She now offers her expertise to clients both in their homes and remotely, utilizing animal communication and energy healing techniques. Her work addresses various health issues, behavioral challenges, stress, anxiety, and end-of-life transitions, primarily through diverse energy healing modalities. Karen is dedicated to healing animals in shelters, sanctuaries, and rescue organizations. Currently, Karen volunteers with the Florida Keys SPCA in Marathon, Florida, where she has been involved since 2003. In 2014, she took on a more active role by introducing calming music and therapeutic-grade essential oils to create a peaceful environment in the indoor kennel areas, which has significantly helped to soothe the dogs' nervous systems. In addition to founding Payton's Promise Sanctuary, Karen is a best-selling author, a Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner, and an intuitive healer. She graduated from Communication with all Life University, where she honed her skills in animal communication and energy medicine. Karen resides in South Florida with her beloved dogs.
