FKSPCA is the Florida Keys SPCA, a humane society located in Marathon, Florida, about 90 miles northeast of Miami. Known as The Center for Animal Welfare & Education, it is dedicated to the humane treatment of all animals through compassionate care, community support programs, adoption, education, and humane law enforcement, with a primary goal of placing all adoptable animals—including dogs, cats, and small animals like rabbits, hamsters, and gerbils—into caring, loving, lifelong homes. The shelter relies heavily on volunteers and foster parents, especially during hurricane season, and offers programs for youths, teens, adults, and groups. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

Adoption process

Complete an adoption questionnaire, meet & greet the animal with all family members, schedule an appointment with an adoption counselor to discuss needs and expectations, do a dog-to-dog introduction if applicable, and take the animal home if it's a match.
