Adoption Process
To adopt a dog, you must be at least 21 years old and living independently. All pets currently in your home must be spayed or neutered, with exceptions only for those being shown in conformation events or if health issues prevent surgery; verification will be required. Additionally, all current pets must be up to date on vaccinations and maintained on monthly heartworm prevention, which we will verify with your veterinarian. We do not allow adoptions of dogs as gifts or surprises without exception. If you are a renter, you need to provide your landlord's name, address, and phone number so we can confirm that you are permitted to have a dog. Applicants should be prepared to spend between $45 (for Toys and Miniatures) to $100 (for Standards) every 5 to 8 weeks for grooming. A commitment to love and care for the adopted dog for its lifetime is essential. Furthermore, all applicants must agree to have a volunteer check their references and conduct a home visit.

Florida Poodle Rescue in St Petersburg, FL
Since its establishment in 1994, Florida Poodle Rescue has successfully placed over 9,500 Poodles, including Standards, Miniatures, Toys, and similar breeds, into loving homes. Many of these dogs have faced abandonment, abuse, neglect, or unwanted circumstances, including loss due to the death of their owners. Upon arrival, each dog undergoes a thorough veterinary examination, receiving necessary care that includes spaying or neutering, vaccinations, dental procedures, preventative medications, and microchipping. Florida Poodle Rescue also offers treatment for active heartworm cases and performs major surgeries such as facial reconstruction, hip repairs, cataract surgeries, and broken bone repairs. All dogs are placed in foster homes where they receive love and support, helping them adjust before they are adopted. The duration of a Poodle's stay in foster care can range from a few days to several months, depending on their condition upon arrival at Florida Poodle Rescue. These rescued dogs often go on to lead happy lives as beloved companions. The experience of rescuing a Poodle and witnessing their transformation is profoundly rewarding.
