Gadsden County is the second poorest county in Florida, characterized by low education and economic levels, which contribute to a high incidence of animal abuse, neglect, abandonment, and dog fighting. Before our organization became active, approximately 1,500 dogs and cats were euthanized annually. Since our inception in 2011, we have successfully reduced the number of animals euthanized by half, with 750 animals euthanized last year. The community has positively responded to our initiative of providing low-cost spaying and neutering vouchers, resulting in a self-sustaining process.

Adoption process

Pets available for adoption are listed on our website. We receive inquiries about these pets, which are addressed promptly via email or phone. Each prospective adopter must fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire. After we receive this document, we conduct a home visit. The pet then spends a trial period, referred to as a slumber party, in the potential adopter's home for three to seven days. If the trial is successful, the formal adoption process is completed. A contract is signed, allowing our organization to perform periodic check-ins during the first year. If, for any reason, the adoptive family is unable to keep the pet, the pet must be returned to our organization.
