The Leon County Humane Society is a nonprofit humane society located in Tallahassee, Florida, about 5 miles south of the city, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and educating in order to foster a kinder community for people and their pets. It is a limited intake facility that welcomes back any animal it has adopted out at any point in that pet's lifetime, and it operates adoptions by appointment only. The shelter cares for cats, dogs, and other small animals, and offers community resources such as a pet food pantry, low-cost spay/neuter vouchers, and pet medical assistance. It is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Applicants view adoptable pets and complete an Adoption Application; once approved, the animal's foster parent contacts them to discuss the pet and arrange a meet-and-greet, and if it's a good match, they finalize adoption paperwork with the Program Coordinator at the office.
