Adopting from Florida Boxer Rescue, Inc.

Adoption process

The adoption process begins with an applicant submitting an application to adopt a dog. A volunteer conducts a veterinary check to ensure that all current or previous pets of the applicant are up to date on vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and are spayed or neutered. Additionally, the volunteer will consult with the veterinarian or veterinary technician to assess whether they believe the applicant is suitable for owning a Boxer. Following the veterinary check, a property check is performed to confirm that the applicant owns their home or has the landlord's permission to have a Boxer. If applicable, we also verify that the homeowner's association (HOA) or condominium association (COA) permits Boxers. Next, the applicant is contacted for a phone interview. If this interview is successful, a home interview is scheduled. Upon a favorable evaluation of the home interview, the applicant is approved to adopt one of our Boxers. The applicant and their family then meet the dog or dogs they are interested in adopting. Once they find a suitable match, they will sign an adoption contract and pay the corresponding adoption fee. Adoption fees vary based on the age of the dog. For dogs under one year, the fee is determined by the Board of Directors based on veterinary costs. For dogs aged one to six years, the fee is $250, while dogs over seven years have a fee of $175. If we have Boxer mixes available for adoption, the fee for those dogs is set at $150.
