Adoption Process

To begin the adoption process, please complete the Online Adoption Application available at www.rosesrescue.net. Once your application has been reviewed and approved, a volunteer will contact you. If your application is pre-approved, the foster parent of the pet you are interested in will arrange a visit for you to meet the animal. In certain cases, a home visit may also be necessary. If the meeting goes well, you will sign an adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, and your new pet will be ready to join your family. For dogs, the adoption fees are as follows: Mixed Breed dogs are $125, Prison Trained dogs are $145, and Purebred dogs are $150 without papers or $165 with papers. All dogs will be current on vaccinations (excluding Rabies) and will be spayed or neutered. If a dog is not of age for spaying or neutering, it will come with a certificate that must be used within 14 days after the dog reaches the appropriate age. For cats, the adoption fee is $75. All cats will be spayed or neutered (or come with a certificate), up to date on vaccinations (excluding Rabies), and tested for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV).

Rose's Rescue in Rootstown, OH

Rose's Rescue is a dedicated group of volunteers with no paid staff. Our dogs are cared for in foster homes or at our facility, which features a heated pole building equipped with a "bedroom" that includes toddler beds, a chair, and a radio for their comfort. They have access to a small fenced area for potty breaks and enjoy daily playtime in a four-acre fenced area, as well as swimming in a pond. We do not operate a traditional shelter, and our animals are only kenneled in special circumstances. Our dogs are well-socialized with both people and other animals, enabling us to better understand their temperaments. We do not accept owner surrenders, but we do offer courtesy postings for pets that are vetted and in need of new homes. Our mission at Rose's Rescue is to provide an all-breed rescue for dogs and cats, focusing primarily on local pound rescues, as these animals often require urgent assistance. We are dedicated to finding the best possible homes for every animal in our care and offer support for any training or behavioral issues throughout the animals' lives. We require that any animal adopted from us be returned to our organization if the adopting family is unable to care for them. Additionally, we are committed to educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering, routine vaccinations, heartworm protection for dogs, and testing for feline AIDS and leukemia. According to the Humane Society of America, over four million dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies are euthanized each year. Our goal is to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable pets. Every two months, Rose's Rescue selects a few special dogs to participate in a training program at the Trumbull Correctional Institution near Warren, Ohio. Selected inmates, under the supervision of professional dog trainer Bill Oliver, volunteer their time to train these dogs. Throughout the program, the dogs learn essential socialization skills, basic obedience commands, and become fully housebroken. They also acquire fun tricks to entertain their future families, such as sitting pretty, playing dead, and giving high fives. Visitors can meet the dogs by appointment, accompanied by a Rose's Rescue representative, while they are at the prison. Dogs can be adopted upon graduation or, in some cases, earlier if they are ready. All current cell dogs and graduates are identified in their descriptions in the "Our Adoptables" section of our website. If you are interested in adopting a pet with a head start on training, consider choosing a Rose's Rescue cell dog.
