Adoption Process

Adoption prices are to be determined. Below is the draft process for adoption. Diamond In The Ruff aims to match you with the most suitable animal for your lifestyle, family, and living situation. We look forward to assisting you in finding your next forever family member. You can view all of our adoptable animals on our website. The adoption process is outlined as follows: Before potential adopters can meet a foster animal outside of our scheduled adoption events, they must complete an adoption application. Information about our upcoming adoption events can be found on our website. After reviewing applications, suitable candidates will be contacted to arrange a Pre-Adoption Meeting with our volunteers, which may include the foster parent of the animal you are interested in adopting. This meeting is intended to address any questions you may have regarding a specific animal or the adoption process. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet with the foster animal and the foster parents if this has not already taken place. Following the meet-and-greet, if you remain interested in the animal, the foster parents will provide a recommendation to the shelter staff regarding the adoption. The foster animal will stay with the foster parent until the Diamond In The Ruff adoption committee makes a decision. The Diamond In The Ruff Adoption Committee will approve or reject the adoption. Final approval of all adoptions is at the sole discretion of Diamond In The Ruff. Once approved, a meeting will be arranged between the foster parent and the adopter, during which the adoption fee will be collected and contracts signed. The foster animal will then transition to its new forever home, with final placements subject to the outcomes of a week-long trial period. A Diamond In The Ruff volunteer will reach out to you after 72 hours to check on how everyone is adjusting and to answer any questions you may have. After the week-long trial period concludes, we will process your adoption fee and provide you with the animal's veterinary records and microchip information in a timely manner. Please remember that we are a completely volunteer-run organization, and we will process your application as quickly as possible.
