About this shelter

Castaways Rescue, Inc in Maysville, NC

Our mission is to create a dog rescue organization that addresses key challenges faced by local animal shelters, including alleviating financial burdens, reducing overcrowding, and minimizing euthanasia. We are committed to rescuing animals from abusive or neglectful situations while adhering to all applicable state and county laws. Additionally, we will implement an owner surrender program to help re-home dogs, thereby preventing them from entering local shelters. We prioritize educating the community about preventing animal cruelty and the importance of spaying and neutering pets. Throughout this endeavor, we aim to foster compassion in the world in every possible way.

Adopting from Castaways Rescue, Inc

Adoption process

The adoption process includes an initial interview conducted over the phone, as we currently do not have a form management system in place. Following this, prospective adopters will need to complete an adoption fee payment and sign a contract. Finally, a home visit will be conducted, or a virtual video interview may be arranged.

Service area: The organization primarily serves Eastern North Carolina. We may consider adoption to out-of-state applicants on a case-by-case basis, which includes the possibility of arranging a home inspection and transportation.
