Adoption Process

To adopt a dog, all applicants must successfully complete a veterinary check, a phone interview, and a home visit. Once these requirements are met, the applicant will be required to sign an adoption contract. This contract includes commitments to have the dog spayed or neutered by the time it reaches six months of age, to provide appropriate veterinary care, food, water, and exercise, and to return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep it for any reason. All dogs will be microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR listed as the primary contact on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, and adopters will have a two-week trial period with the dog. If the adopter violates the terms of the contract, Freedom GSR reserves the right to reclaim the dog. Additionally, all dogs will not be adopted until they are up to date on vaccinations, free from heartworms and intestinal parasites, and spayed or neutered if they are six months of age or older. For puppies, the contract requires that they be altered by the time they reach six months of age.
