About this shelter

One Last Good Home Sanctuary & Hospice in Longview, WA

One Last Good Home Sanctuary & Hospice is located in Longview, Washington, within Cowlitz County, where four other animal shelters or rescues also operate, and it sits about 40 miles south of Vancouver, WA. It serves as the sanctuary and hospice arm of OC PoundHounds, a small-breed dog rescue that has been pulling dogs from Southern California high-kill shelters and commercial breeding operations since 2005. Dogs sent to the Washington sanctuary are typically senior or medically compromised animals retired from breeding operations or facing euthanasia, and the facility keeps only a small number of dogs, usually 8 to 12, so they live in a personal home environment rather than being kept in crates or runs. The organization is an all-volunteer, foster-home-based 501(c)3 nonprofit recognized in California, Washington State, and at the federal level, with adoption fees and donations going entirely toward veterinary care for its rescue, sanctuary, and hospice dogs.
