Adoption Process
Walk-ins are welcome during adoption hours; visitors meet and interact with pets, an interview process is used to match adopters with a compatible pet, and a post-adoption application and contract are completed on-site (no pre-visit application required).

The Humane Society of the Nature Coast is a humane society located in Brooksville, Florida, in Hernando County, about 40 miles south of Tampa, and is one of six animal shelters and rescues serving the county. Its mission is to provide a safe haven, resources, and love for animals in need while promoting pet welfare and sterilization to achieve a no-kill society. The shelter helps rescue neglected and homeless cats and dogs, offers services such as pet surrender assistance, a pet pantry, and a lost & found program, and also runs a Pet Guardianship Program for planned giving. Regular hours are Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, closed Sundays.
