About this shelter

Foothill Dog Rescue Of The Sierras in Shingle Springs, CA

Foothill Dog Rescue Of The Sierras is a dog rescue based in Shingle Springs, California, in El Dorado County, roughly 30 miles west of Sacramento, where it operates alongside 7 other animal shelters and rescues in the county. Founded in March 2013, the all-volunteer organization has saved over 5,000 dogs by pulling them from high-kill shelters and owner surrenders, placing them in foster homes, and matching them with forever families. Run by 150-180 volunteers with no paid staff, it is funded entirely through adoption fees, donations, and fundraisers, and provides foster families with food, crates, toys, training, and medical care. Every dog is fully vetted before adoption, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm testing for adults, and microchipping.
