Friends of the Orleans County Animal Shelter is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Albion, New York, in Orleans County, about 30 miles east of Rochester, NY. For over 16 years, this independent nonprofit worked alongside the county-owned Orleans County Animal Shelter, placing dogs and cats into loving homes and raising funds for equipment and care for the animals there. Two other animal shelters or rescues are also located in Orleans County. The organization is a separate entity from the county shelter itself and is winding down its operations, with dissolution taking effect July 1, 2026.
