About this shelter

Animal Services in Olympia, WA

We serve as the animal shelter and animal law enforcement agency for Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and unincorporated Thurston County. Our funding comes from city and county tax revenue, pet licensing fees, and donations. We offer a wide range of services to our community, including 24-hour emergency pick-up and medical stabilization for injured stray pets, with notifications to owners of animals wearing identification. We also provide pick-up services for confined stray dogs and cats in most areas, as well as identification services for licensed pets. Our Lost Pet Hotline is available 24 hours a day to assist in reclaiming lost pets, and we maintain a Lost-and-Found information kiosk at our shelter for pet owners and citizens who have found animals. We provide shelter, care, and non-critical medical attention for various small domestic animals and some injured wildlife. Additionally, we facilitate the adoption of unclaimed or unwanted pets, including spay/neuter surgery, immunizations, microchipping, and licensing. Our services also include humane euthanasia for injured, terminally ill, or elderly pets and law enforcement responses to complaints involving animals. We operate a volunteer program that educates and engages our community, enhancing our ability to provide services at minimal cost. Furthermore, we offer humane education programs for schools and community groups.
