About this shelter

Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue in Redmond, WA

Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue (SPDR) is a dog rescue based in Redmond, Washington, in King County—home to 36 other animal shelters and rescues—about 20 miles northwest of Bellevue, WA. Founded in 1987 as a nonpolitical, volunteer-based nonprofit, SPDR is one of the oldest and most reputable rescues in the Pacific Northwest, working cooperatively with breeders, animal shelters, breed clubs, and individuals to place unwanted and abandoned purebred dogs into new homes. The organization operates through rescue, referral, and education, noting that roughly 25% of dogs found in shelters are purebred, and it also promotes responsible dog ownership by educating the public on selecting, caring for, and training dogs.
