The Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) - Olympic Wildlife Center is an animal shelter located in Lynnwood, Washington, in Snohomish County, roughly 25 miles west of Everett, WA, and one of 15 other animal shelters and rescues also serving Snohomish County. PAWS is dedicated to people helping cats, dogs and wild animals go home and thrive, operating a companion animal shelter in Lynnwood, a satellite cat adoption center called Cat City in Seattle's University District, and a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Snohomish. Each year, its Wildlife Center cares for nearly 5,000 mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians representing 150 species, and it is one of only two facilities in Washington State permitted to rehabilitate sick, injured or orphaned American Black Bears. The organization also runs education programs like PAWS Academy and Kids Who Care, and offers volunteer and foster opportunities for community members in King and Snohomish counties.
