Rikki's Refuge Orange is a 450-acre, no-kill, all-species sanctuary in Orange, Virginia, located in Orange County, where it is one of four animal shelters and rescues serving the area. It sits about 60 miles southeast of Richmond, VA, and cares for animals rejected by adoption organizations—those that are older, handicapped, in need of constant medical care, or considered difficult to place elsewhere. The sanctuary operates as a 501(c)3 and is sustained entirely by donations from individuals, receiving no government or corporate funding. Its philosophy centers on the belief that every animal has not only the right to life but the right to be who they are.
