The Orange County Animal Shelter, located in Orange, Virginia about 60 miles southeast of Richmond, is dedicated to providing humane care to unwanted, lost, or abandoned animals. Its mission is to protect the animals entrusted to its care, find permanent homes for lost or abandoned pets, promote responsible pet ownership, and improve the quality of life throughout Orange County. The shelter is supported by the Orange County Humane Society, which provides volunteers for adoption events and raises funds for the shelter's Emergency Veterinary Fund, spay/neuter program, and microchip program, and it also sponsors low-cost seasonal vaccination clinics for cats and dogs that are open to the public. The shelter is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
