Hooves & Paws Animal Rescue in Louisa, VA

Hooves & Paws Animal Rescue is a nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue and sanctuary located in Louisa, Virginia, about 50 miles southeast of Richmond. It rescues abandoned, abused, and unwanted animals, providing them with food, bedding, veterinary care, and round-the-clock attention, then places rehabilitated animals into carefully screened adoptive homes. Animals who aren't adopted receive guaranteed lifelong care at the organization's sanctuary, which currently cares for up to 100 animals, including dogs, horses, potbellied pigs, goats, sheep, farm pigs, cattle, chickens, alpacas, donkeys, turkeys, and ducks. As a volunteer-based organization that receives no government funding, Hooves & Paws relies entirely on donations, animal sponsorships, and volunteer support to continue its work.

Adoption process

Interested adopters contact the shelter directly (via phone, email, or an online form) to ask about a dog and complete an adoption application; an adoption donation of at least $150 is requested, with discounts for seniors, veterans, senior dogs, and dogs with special medical needs, and fostering or trial adoptions are also offered.
