Adoption Process

To initiate the adoption process, you can pay the deposit online by visiting the Adoption Application Deposit section at www.GreytStore.com. After completing the payment, you will receive a Confirmation Number that must be included in your adoption application. Alternatively, you may mail your application along with a check or money order for $75 to GALT. Please note that $25 of the deposit is non-refundable, but the entire amount will be applied to the adoption donation fee. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. Please be aware that greyhounds on Injured Reserve are not available for applications or appointments until they have fully recovered and are cleared for adoption. GALT's non-refundable, tax-deductible adoption donation fee is $350 for greyhounds under 7 years old, $275 for greyhounds aged 7 to 9 years, and $225 for greyhounds aged 10 and older. The remaining balance of the adoption donation fee is due at the time of adoption. Your adoption donation helps GALT support the next greyhound in need. It is important to note that GALT's average cost per greyhound exceeds $500. For more information about the care and medical procedures we provide for our dogs, please refer to the Adoption FAQ. Not all adoption organizations offer the same level of medical care that GALT provides, so we encourage you to be well-informed before making an adoption decision.

Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, Inc. (GALT) is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, as well as communities across Texas and the United States since May 2001. To date, GALT has successfully helped over 2,400 greyhounds find permanent homes. GALT operates on a budget of more than $350,000 annually, funded entirely by donations, which are used to meet the needs of the greyhounds in its care. The organization maintains a neutral stance on greyhound racing. The mission of GALT includes assisting all greyhounds, particularly those retired from or associated with the racing industry. GALT aims to place these greyhounds in loving, responsible homes and to educate the public about the benefits of adopting greyhounds as companions and family pets. The organization emphasizes the importance of spaying and neutering to help control the population of unwanted animals. GALT actively supports and encourages a dedicated volunteer base of greyhound enthusiasts who share the mission of finding loving homes for these dogs. It also provides ongoing educational support to families after adoption to facilitate successful placements. Additionally, GALT seeks to connect with other organizations and individuals involved in greyhound adoption to promote this cause on a global scale. Most importantly, GALT fosters a shared appreciation for the unique bond between humans and greyhounds, celebrating the love and loyalty that these remarkable animals bring into our lives.
